    Description

I recently purchased a large trade dollar lot at an estate sale and was very pleased to find this rare 1987 .999 silver MacPuffin dollar.
This auction includes a 1987 .999 silver MacPuffin trade dollar
    AND
a 1987 nickel MacPuffin trade dollar reference coin. I have included the weight and dimension differences in the photos. Please see photos for condition details.
The MacPuffin Dollar was a community trade token which was produced and distributed by the Cape Breton Tourist Association between 1976 and 1995. These tokens had a or value at participating retailers and were generally demonetized at the end of the year. Typically, they would mint 10's of thousands of the nickel coins and have a very limited run 50 to 100 of the .999 pure silver coins.
I can not find the mintage numbers for the 1987 version, but I do know they minted 25,000 nickel coins in 1986 and 100 .999 silver coins.
